Audio Decoders tab

You can tune integrated AC3, DTS and AAC audiodecoders.

Output sample format for the MPEG Audio, LPSM, AC3 Decoders - allows you to select audiodecoder output type. The left ones has lesser quality but higher compatibility, the right ones are less compatible but produce better sound quality.

Normalize - normalizes sound - brings it to the max possible level. Usually it's 0 db, if you use a higher level, it may lead to sound distortions.

Boost - sometimes sound level in films is lower than you need. This option lets you boost sound to a needed level.

Decode to speakers - allows you to set the number of destination speakers. E.G. You have 5.1 AC3 file and want to listen it on stereo system.

LFE - enable low frequency channel (subwoofer).

S/PDIF - no decoding, sound is directly transmitted to S/PDIF (if you want to connect it to receiver).

Dynamic Range Control - dynamic range control also known as Dynamic Range Compression. It lowers the level of the loudest sounds and makes most quiet sounds louder - after such a manipulation great dynamic range of AC3 can be "fitted" in dynamic range of low-quality 16bit sound cards.

Downmix to stereo - multichannel sound will be downmixed to stereo (E.G. 6 channels -> 2 channels, 4 -> 2.
